Built adjacent to Portland’s Artist Repertory Theatre, Art Tower is inspired by Portland's eclectic creative community. The building features an oversized, stage-like lobby that hosts live music, theatrical performances, and art installations.
In collaboration with the brilliant crew at Vida Design, our creative team conjured the lobby rug design entirely by hand.

A black and white palette allows the dramatic pops of color in the space to sing, all the while firmly while grounding the space.
The subtle tonal shifts in the field of the rug (aka abrash) are quite deliberate. We used our signature "space dye" technique to ensure depth of color and a vibrant base.

The rug was translated from an antique Turkish kilm into our hand-knotted quality, which insured that it would withstand commercial traffic. The size and scale were enlarged and we added to. After the sample was approved, we made the rug and met the quoted lead time.
